American Megatrends Launches New StorTrends 2610i All-Flash Array

1/2/2017

NORCROSS, GA - American Megatrends Inc. (AMI) today announced the release of its StorTrends 2610i All-flash Array. Optimized to support VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix and RHEV enterprises of all sizes, the StorTrends 2610i is a full flash array that delivers dramatic enterprise performance and reliability at an extremely affordable price point.

The 2610i offers both Deduplication and Compression for space savings. StorTrends Customers see on average a 4:1 dedupe and compression ratio in virtualized environments. With dedupe and compression enabled, a mixed workload of 8K blocks split into 70% Read I/O and 30% Write I/O achieves 117,400 IOPS. StorTrends deploys a split tier within the 2610i for hot data and cold data. The hot data is stored in a non-deduped, non-compressed tier for extreme performance. When data within this tier becomes infrequently accessed, it is then deduplicated and compressed while being migrated down into the cold tier. Both the hot and cold tiers are comprised of SSDs allowing for extreme IOPS and sub-1ms sustained latency. To help users maximize the value of the appliance, the StorTrends 2610i SSD Array provides the following benefits: thin provisioning, auto data tiering, WAN optimized replication, as well as compatibility with legacy StorTrends solutions, without additional costly licensing fees.

"Flash-based storage systems offer compelling performance benefits over traditional hard disk drive (HDD) storage systems, but until now have been too costly for many organizations," said Justin Bagby, director of the StorTrends Division of American Megatrends. "Our storage arrays break that barrier by providing the right blend of high performance, high availability and scalability to meet enterprise application requirements at extremely affordable prices."

The 2610i is available in over 100 configurations to meet each customer’s specific needs and performance specifications with configurations starting at under $.50 per gig effective capacity. StorTrends solutions are offered with the StorAID support program which includes 24 x 7 technical phone support. For more information, please visit: StorTrends 2610i.

American Megatrends Extends ROM Utilities Support for ARM-based Projects

5/16/2016

NORCROSS, GEORGIA: - American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, server and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® operating systems, is proud to extend ROM Utilities support for ARM-based projects. These utilities allow modifications to be made to the ARM-based firmware images without having to rebuild the firmware. A single build can be modified and used on several platform derivatives.

AMI customers now have additional support for various tools to use with ARM-based projects. ARM firmware support has been incorporated in the following AMI ROM Utilities: AMIBCP, AMISDE, ChangeLogo, and MMTool. These utilities allow for post-build configuration of certain settings within the ARM-based firmware images. Since the tools were extended to support ARM-based projects, the user experience remains the same. All the available tools are compatible with AMI's flagship Aptio® V UEFI Firmware and designed to work in conjunction with the firmware.

"With the extended ROM Utilities support for ARM-based projects, AMI is facilitating the introduction of new products in the market," said Subramonian Shankar, CEO of American Megatrends. "Continuous innovative development enables AMI to assist and serve our customers in every aspect of product development and manufacturing, allowing our customers to create high-quality products for their end users."

"While Aptio customers that already use AMI tools and utilities are in a unique position to quickly support the ARM-based platforms market segment, experienced ARM developers can provide better support of their products leveraging easy to use BIOS solutions. For these developers, our ROM Utilities are created to reduce BIOS development and support learning curves," added Stefano Righi, Vice President of Utilities and R&D of American Megatrends.

In summary:

  • AMI ARM-based projects can be developed in the same Aptio development environment that BIOS engineers are already familiar with, including Linux support
  • Full support for manufacturing with flash, SMBIOS, setup tools and more
  • OEM customization tools are available to modify the firmware image without the need to rebuild the project

Redfish utilizes a combination of REST, JSON and OData and serves as a secure replacement for IPMI-over-LAN.

AMI's OOB (Out-of-Band) Firmware Management delivers extended management solutions through the adoption of Redfish between BIOS, BMC and Extensible Management Architecture (EMA). AMI OOB Firmware Management provides complete Redfish support and allows for the consistent exchange of information between the BIOS and BMC. AMI has been diligently working on providing an OOB firmware solution for datacenter solutions providers such as QCT (Quanta Cloud Technology).

"Out-of-band BIOS configuration is an important feature for our datacenter customers," said Mike Yang, general manager of QCT. "Accessing server management controllers through the network lets datacenter administrators perform remote BIOS setups for many racks of servers simultaneously. It is precisely the kind of efficiency and agility that our customers are looking for."

The StorTrends ManageTrends GUI is absolutely the best GUI I've seen. It's ridiculously easy to use. That and StorTrends highly affordable pricing made it a compelling product for our Tier II and III needs. The StorTrends solutions at First Option have been a very good investment. The SANs do exactly as promised. For the money and ease of use, StorTrends is a real value.
